This smart home system integrates various cutting-edge technologies to enhance both security and convenience within the home. The system is designed using Raspberry pi pico board and multiple sensors, providing a seamless and automated experience for homeowners. Below are the key features:
1. Burglary Detection Using IR Intrusion Sensor
The smart home is equipped with an Infrared (IR) Intrusion Detection System that helps to detect unauthorized access or intruders. The system uses IR sensors strategically placed around doors and windows to detect movement. If an intruder breaks the infrared beam, the system immediately triggers an alarm or sends a notification to the homeowner, ensuring high-level security when the home is unoccupied. The system can also be integrated with other security features like cameras or lights to provide real-time monitoring.
2. Sliding Gate Controlled by Servo Motor and Linear Gear
A sliding gate is automated using a servo motor connected to a linear gear mechanism. The servo motor is controlled via the Arduino to open and close the gate, providing an easy way to control access to the driveway. The gate can be operated via a Bluetooth connection, allowing homeowners to open or close it remotely from their smartphones. The system can be integrated with RFID or other access control mechanisms to ensure secure entry.
3. Motion-Activated Door Using PIR Sensor
The door is equipped with a PIR (Passive Infrared) Motion Sensor, which automatically detects movement and triggers the door to open when someone approaches. This system eliminates the need to physically press a button or handle the door, offering a hands-free, automated experience. This feature enhances convenience, especially when carrying groceries or packages. The PIR sensor can also be programmed to activate additional features, such as lighting or security alerts, upon detection of motion.
4. RFID-Controlled Garage Door
The garage door is controlled using an RFID system, where each authorized person has a unique RFID tag or card. When the system detects an authorized RFID card, the garage door opens automatically for secure entry. This adds a layer of convenience and security, ensuring that only authorized individuals can access the garage. RFID technology can be expanded to other entry points around the house for added access control.
5. Street Light Control Using Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) and LED
The outdoor street lights are intelligently managed using a Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) sensor. The LDR detects the ambient light levels and automatically switches the LED street lights on when the light level drops below a certain threshold (e.g., dusk). In the morning, when daylight returns, the system turns off the lights, ensuring energy efficiency. This system ensures that the street lights are always on when needed, without wasting electricity during daylight hours.
Integration and Control:
All of these features are seamlessly controlled through a central Raspberry pi pico board, which connects all the sensors and actuators. The homeowner can manage and monitor the system using a smartphone app (through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi), giving them the flexibility to control gates, doors, and lights remotely.
With real-time notifications, users can stay informed about the security status of their home (such as when motion is detected, when the garage door opens, or when a security breach occurs), offering both peace of mind and ultimate control over their living space.
